Paint illusions: An Introduction to Trompe L'Oeil Painting

This short course is an introduction to painting Trompe L'Oeil - a type of painting, in two dimensions, which persuades the spectator that they are looking at actual objects in three dimensions. Some painting experience is useful but not essential.

What you will learn

You will learn how to draw out and paint one small (A4) trompe l'oeil panel. This involves being shown how to:

  • Prepare and prime the panel
  • Work in acrylic colours with acrylic mediums
  • Use tracing and drawing to reproduce the objects actual size
  • Use knowledge of simple perspective

In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress ou your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
