Raku. An introduction to making, glazing and firing

Raku involves rapid firing and cooling in outdoor kilns. This course provides 4 making sessions, 1 glazing. Saturday you spend the day outdoors firing. One kiln load per student. DATES 22&29 June, 6 July. Glazing 12 July Firing 14 July

What you will learn

  • You will take part in a power point explanation of the process.You will be making a range of objects during the practical sessions.
  • The tutor will give you feedback and practical help with different making techniques to realise your ideas. You will be glazing your work with Raku glazes and different decoration and application techniques.
  • You will take part in a Health & Safety induction.
  • You will help to set up the firing site and actively take part in the firing process and post reduction firing treatment of your work, following Health & Safety guidelines.

In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress ou your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive envirinment
