The foundational components of the curriculum have been meticulously updated to encompass the latest Acts of Parliament, government guidelines, and Codes of Practice. These updates include:

  • The Care Act (2014) and its subsequent amendments

  • New principles of independent advocacy
  • Revised Audit Processes in line with the Caldicott Report (2015)
  • The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
  • Updates in accordance with Skills for Care's CPD guide
  • Revisions to the requirements for Care and Support Plans
  • Adjustments to definitions regarding the balance between risk assessment, risk-taking, and individual rights and responsibilities

The Level 3 diploma consists of various units of assessment aligned with the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF). Upon successfully completing a unit, you will earn a specific number of credits.

This qualification is structured around learning outcomes, where you must demonstrate your knowledge and practical experience.

Please note: To meet the course requirements, you must engage in a work placement in the UK (excluding Northern Ireland) for a minimum of 50 hours, whether it's a paid or voluntary position. During this work placement, it is essential to have a staff member with the necessary occupational competence for supervision, witness testimonies, and validation of your achievement of the work-based learning outcomes. Additionally, you should be prepared to participate in both remote and in-person observations conducted by an NCC Assessor.

This educational program has been carefully designed to empower individuals working in or aspiring to enter the health and social care sector. Its overarching objective is to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel effectively in their roles.

This new diploma aims to develop the knowledge, skills and competence of learners working in a wide range of roles in a health and social care setting. The purpose of the qualification is to support the carer’s role in the workplace and to enable them to progress to higher level qualifications.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This is suitable for individuals who would like to develop their knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social Care industry.

There is no previous learning knowledge needed to enrol on to the course making it easily accessible to anyone who would like to learn more about this subject area. However, you will find it useful if you already have some background knowledge of the industry.

Please note that to complete the workplace element of this course, learners must be UK-based (excluding Northern Ireland), and be able to complete in-person and remote observations as part of the assessment process.

This course has the potential to be effectively taught to student cohorts.
