Course description

Develop Your Watercolour: The course is suitable for learners looking to expand their understanding of watercolour painting methods. During the course, students will experiment with different techniques in order to develop a more personal style of painting with watercolour.You will experiment with a range of watercolour painting techniques and methods that help to broaden your brush skills. You will explore using creatures, flowers, landscapes and people as subject matter. You will be encouraged to work from your own source material. You will undertake research to aid the production of your art creating a portfolio charting the progress of your artwork with accompanying reflective written work. Your final piece of work will be reflective of the methods and ideas explored on the course.You will experiment with a range of watercolour painting techniques and methods that help to broaden your brush skills. Suitability - Who should attend?

Although not essential, it is advisable that learners have attended a previous watercolour course and covered basic techniques including colour mixing and the basics of using washes to create finished paintings. It is recommended that you have the ESOL Skills for Life Entry Level 3 Certificate or a good level of numeracy and literacy – as you will need to read handouts and produce a portfolio of work. You should also be dexterous (able to hold and use equipment).
