Course description

What will I learn?

This course is suitable for those who are absolutely new to horticulture, or those who have a bit more time to get practical in the garden or allotment. No gardening experience is needed, this is a practical course and suitable for learners of all abilities. You will learn about how to choose the right plants for your garden space, whether it is a shade spot or dry and sunny. This is an interactive course, your tutor will teach you by discussion and practical demonstration. You may be working in the college polytunnel and gardens. You will be assessed by questions and answers and observation in class. You will be encouraged to work at the level appropriate to you as an individual. None A range of horticulture courses allow you to build up your skills, so that you are confident using the practical skills in your own garden, and in continuing to improve your gardening knowledge. Your tutor will be able to advise you if you want to progress to an accredited course. All materials for your course will be provided, but please bring a pen and notepaper as you will probably find it useful to take extra notes. You may be doing practical gardening in the college garden or polytunnel so please wear suitable clothing, comfortable shoes and bring gloves. Westgate Community College, Thursday am from 10 - 12.
