CAD for Baby and Childrenswear
This course focuses on the creative use of CAD to produce an innovative and commercial garment collection for babies or children.
You will learn how to produce product fabrication technical files and creative placement graphics that can be used in a capsule collection.
This course is ideal if you have some understanding of Adobe Illustrator and want to explore specialist design techniques.
The skills taught, although targeted at garment details, treatments and graphics, lend themselves well to a diverse range of design projects.
You’ll be introduced to these skills and techniques through technical workshops, demonstrations, exercises on the computer, one-to-one feedback and group critiques.
During the course you will:
- research trends in baby and childrenswear
- create moodboards
- improve your knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
- design a small capsule collection
- learn about placement graphics and apply them to your garments
- present your collection in a PDF to a professional standard.

By the end of the course, you will have a newfound confidence in using Illustrator in creative, effective and efficient ways, and gained an understanding of the baby and childrenswear industry.

Entry requirement: You should have professional or academic experience in fashion design, and basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator.
