Course description

Creative Writing for 15 – 17 Year Olds (Chapter Two)

If you’re aged 16 and above and have completed the course for 15 – 17 year olds (either this year or a previous year) and want another week of writing, then book your place today.

On this course, you’ll learn the skills and techniques to elevate the quality of your writing projects towards professional standard.

Drawing on methods experienced on the first course, you’ll work both independently and collaboratively to further develop and establish life-long writing behaviours and values.

With a focus on enjoying the writing process, it’s ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in writing, but similarly enjoyable for someone who simply wishes to enhance their writing process and revisit the forum of the summer course.

During this course you will:

  • focus on how to turn your ideas into the written word

  • learn to refine your work to make maximum impact

  • take part in writing workshops

  • sharing and discuss work

  • give and receive constructive feedback.

You are invited to bring along any examples of writing that you admire such as a favourite book, poem, article or song lyrics.

What will I gain?

By the end of the course, your writing will have greater drive, purpose, direction and quality to delight your readers.

You’ll have also developed a range of professional skills and enhanced your portfolio.

Tutor Profile: Sean Elliott-Maher has professional experience writing and editing in many forms, although he primarily writes literary fiction and graphic novels.

His non-ghost-written work includes a range of print and online media for the BBC.

Sean has a broad literary reference base with specific expertise in the life and work of D. H. Lawrence.

He's lectured to a range of audiences on a variety of literary matters, participated in readings and spoken word events, and been an after-dinner speaker.

Sean's literary and writing teaching accompanies his writing coaching, which has helped many ambitious writers improve the effectiveness of their work.
