Making a monster: How to create a killer character
Frankenstein’s monster, Hannibal Lecter, Count Dracula... everyone knows their names and stories.
This short course will walk you through a mini history of the monster in horror writing, before you create your own monster legend.
This day is comprised of short lectures, group discussions and practical writing exercises.
On this course you will:
- define and understand what is meant by monster
- examine previous monsters and the impact they’ve had on the genre and industry
- understand the use of a monster from a marketing angle
- create a monster with a back story
- gain feedback on a short piece of your own.
The course is open to beginners as well as people with some writing experience looking for inspiration.
What will I gain?
You’ll leave this course with a short piece of creative horror writing that can be a great starting point for further development.
You’ll also have the knowledge of what to do with your text, and where best to get published.
