This course is for adult learners with very little or no knowledge of the language, who want an introduction to the French language and want to use it when on holiday in France. These classes take you through the basics of the French language and related cultures. You will learn how to communicate in situations that you are likely to encounter as a tourist as well as learning the basic grammar to give you a solid foundation on which to build your language skills.
The course involves all 4-language skills: Speaking French in class (including role-play); Reading short texts and answering questions; Writing notes and letters used for the course portfolio; and listening to the teacher, other students and audio and video material. There will also be some focus on grammar, such as the use of the present tense, and how to use nouns and adjectives. On completion this course leads to French Year 1 - Part 2 in the summer term; Progression to higher levels of the French language.
