Course description
This programme will provide you with the core practical skills and knowledge that you will need to succeed in finding employment, or further learning and training, within vineyards, both in England and abroad. There is also the opportunity to progress on to the Plumpton College Foundation Degree in Wine Production if the entry requirements are met.
You will learn:
- How to work safely
- Tractor driving, and the use of other vineyard machinery
- The fundamentals of plant biology and protection from pests and diseases
- Key vineyard operations, such as pruning, trellising and harvesting.
There is a work-placement requirement, which you can complete in local vineyards. Plumpton also has very strong links with the English wine industry, and will help you find a work placement during your course. The UK wine industry is growing fast so there are plenty of good opportunities for graduates to gain employment. We are also in contact with our graduates all over the world, including France, Canada, Australia, California, New Zealand and South Africa.
