Possibly the most versatile medium of all, many people choose to get to grips with oil painting at Queensgate, as there is a large selection of oil paints and brushes to experiment with. All materials are provided. The studio has storage for wet canvases in progress. A cleaning area with turps and washing up liquid is also provided.
The Beginners' course starts you off with the basics, but with our innovative teaching techniques you will learn this by producing a painting. The course includes: simple drawing techniques and composition, the use of the palette knife, brush techniques, colour selection and mixing ingredient notes, textures, optional canvas stretching instruction.
Everyone can take advantage of our still life set-ups, fresh flowers and objects d'art.
You can concentrate exclusively on oil painting during your 10 x 2 hour sessions, or you can combine this with watercolour, drawing, life drawing or pastels by arrangement.
Your 10 sessions can be taken once weekly, or more frequently by appointment and subject to availability. The 10 sessions must be used within four months of your start date.
Cancellation of any individual session requires 48 hours notice or the session will be charged for.
Suitability - Who should attend?
All course applicants must visit the studio in order to enrol so that we can make sure that they are happy with the studio and what we offer, and that we can reasonably fulfil their requirements.
