Course description

Rail Traineeship

The traineeship provides students with the necessary knowledge and understanding to enable progression into employment within the rail industry. Also consisting of both classroom theory learning and practical experience attained within a simulated railway environment.

Students will be given the opportunity of hands on learning – Practical work will help to demonstrate a basic knowledge and understanding of the rail industry; allowing the learner to acquire personal skills for basic railway engineering tasks.

If you are interested in a career in the Rail Industry, you will need to be physically fit as working within the railway industry can be physically demanding, and often requires a lot of heavy lifting and manual tasks. The railway operates 365 days a year and requires engineering staff to work outdoors at all times of the day and in all weather conditions.
