Course description
In this course, you will learn how to observe, draw and paint the complex structures of plants flowers, leaves, fruits and vegetables. You will learn to develop your watercolour techniques, observational drawing and colour mixing skills. This course will encourage you to experiment with watercolour to achieve freshness and life in your painting and will explore more advanced techniques. This is a structured course. Learners will be looking at plants and flowers in detail, and painting them using the wet into wet method to achieve freshness and life. You will also be looking at accurate drawing methods and close observation of the flowers and plants. You will learn: Techniques to make accurate botanical studies in pencil, pen and ink; Wet into wet technique, as well as other watercolour techniques; Dry brushing and completing more complex pieces; Composition.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Botanical illustration is a precise and detailed discipline. Therefore it is important to have excellent eyesight, good eye to hand coordination, and observational skills. Basic drawing skills and some experience of using watercolour is preferable but not essential.
