Course description
What will I learn?
This four day course, for women only, will aim to provide students with a grounding of the technical and creative skills required to become a documentary filmmaker. From developing the idea through to shoot and edit, students with create a short documentary example. Once familiarised with the equipment and theoretical issues surrounding film making, students will participate in the making of a short documentary using the college grounds and suitable locations. All stages of the digital film production process will be covered, with every student taking on specific roles employed in the making of a documentary, including researcher, camera operator, editor etc. The documentary will be then by edited onsite, individually, using Adobe Premiere Pro. Course outcomes: • You will discover the conventions of documentary films • You will originate and plan a short documentary film idea • You will source relevant information and schedule effectively • You will shoot a short documentary using DSLR equipment • You will edit a documentary using Adobe Premiere Pro
What do I need to know?
You will need to have attended the Introduction to Digital Filmmaking Course (or equivalent) Good IT skills are required as you will spend 50% of your time in front of a computer You will need good communication and teamwork skills.
