Risk Reduction and ALARP (e-learning/open)
Risk Reduction and ALARP - distance learning course resulting in a postgraduate Certificate of Professional Development
This distance learning Risk Reduction and ALARP course delivers a thorough foundational understanding of the widely used but commonly misunderstood concept of As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).
Delivered via the Risktec Online learning environment, the part-time programme introduces students to the ALARP concept and the hierarchy of risk reduction measures. With the goal of enabling learners to demonstrate that they are able to reduce risk to ALARP levels, the course aims to develop their understanding of:
- The different risk reduction options available across the project lifecycle (control hierarchy)
- When different risk reduction measures can be best used
- The "tolerability" or risk and "As Low As Reasonably Practicable" concept
- How to apply ALARP and conduct a suitably detailed ALARP assessment
Based on Risktec's long experience, the industry-focused course combines course slides and notes with practical exercises and discussions to give learners a set of highly practical skills to apply in their daily work.
