CMI Level 5 Diploma in Professional Consulting

The CMI Level 5 in Professional Consulting qualification is designed for Professional Consultants and those aspiring to become a Professional Consultant and who want to develop key skills such as planning and managing consultancy interventions, the client relationship, communication and problem solving tools and techniques.

DIPLOMA: With a more comprehensive structure, CMI Level 5 Diploma gives you the skills and competencies you'll need to become a consultant. The Level 5 Diploma is the benchmark qualification to attain full IC membership. The units available give you the chance to improve your skills in management and leadership as well as coaching and mentoring should they be chosen. Learners must complete all mandatory units to a total of 25 credit and three optional units to a minimum of 18 credits to achieve this qualification.

Suitability - Who should attend?

Learners must:

  • Be 19 years of age and over
  • Have considerable work experience as a consultant in any sector or similar job role
  • Possess the ability to complete the Level 5 Qualification

The client relationship unit is about understanding how a client/ consultant relationship is formed and developed in a positive way and therefore the skills required of a consultant so as to realize the trust of clients. It identifies the key factors in developing a positive client/consultant relationship.Learners can understand the negotiation and influencing skills within the client/consultant relationship.

Unit2- Planning and managing consultancy interventions

Planning and managing consultancy interventions unit is about understanding the stages of the consultancy cycle and the way to manage interventions effectively.This unit will help the learners to understand the need to adopt a structured approach to managing consultancy interventions.

Unit3- Problem solving, tools and techniques for consultants

"Problem solving, tools and techniques for consultants unit is about the tools and techniques employed by a consultant to pick and analyse data and information and to formulate findings and alternative courses of action for the client.This will help the learners to understand the client needs, and also data collection methods and confidentiality in consultancy interventions. "

Unit4- Introduction to consulting essentials

Introduction to consulting essentials unit is aimed towards those that wish to realise an understanding of the role of a consultant. It identifies the importance of professionalism and client engagement. Learners will understand the nature of consulting,prepares them to be a professional and personal development as a consultant and also helps to communicate with the clients effectively.

Unit5- Communication for consultants

Communication for consultants unit demonstrates the talents required for an adviser using verbal and non-verbal communication methods.This unit will help the learners to understand the importance of communication and conduct effective team meetings by sharing information,findings conclusions and recommendations with the clients.

Unit6- The role and responsibilities of a consultant

The role and responsibilities of a consultant unit is about understanding the role of the consultant, the professional and ethical behaviours, skills and attributes required by a consultant.Learners will be able to assess current competencies, knowledge and behaviours against those required of a management consultant.
