Course description
Essential Swahili 1 is a semi-intensive 1-week course of 10 hours aimed at those looking for a rapid introduction to spoken Swahili for the purposes of being able to understand and speak basic, everyday Swahili.
Duration: 1 week, 10 hours, Monday 16th July - Saturday 21st July 2018
Mode of attendance: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings 18:00-20:00; Saturday 10:00-15:00 (including a 1-hour lunch break)
Description
The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to colloquial Swahili. By the end of the course, students will have acquired a basic working vocabulary and some grammatical structures that will enable them to communicate within a limited range of situations. The course is equally suitable for those who want simply to get the most out of a visit to East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania) and for those who are new to the language and would like to take the first step in studying it (See also Essential Swahili 2).
Method
The course is taught in Swahili and English. Class size is limited to fifteen to allow for close intensive interactive practice.
