Course description
Essential Swahili 2 is a semi-intensive 1-week course of 10 hours aimed at those who have taken Essential Swahili 1, or those who can already use very basic, everyday spoken Swahili and wish to improve their language skills.

Mode of attendance: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings 18:00-20:00; Saturday 10:00-15:00 (including a 1-hour lunch break)
Description
The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to colloquial Swahili to those who have a very basic undestanding of it (See Essential Swahili 1). By the end of the course, students will have acquired an essential working vocabulary and the grammatical structures that enable them to communicate within a limited range of situations. The cultural context underlying the use of Swahili is explored so that learners will have an appreciation and an awareness of appropriate language use.
Method
The course is taught in Swahili and English. Class size is limited to fifteen to allow for close intensive interactive practice.
