Healthcare support workers will work in the clinical settings and will carry out a variety of well-defined clinical duties under supervision. This includes observations, supporting with the daily activities of living, record keeping and many other activities. This will be the start of a career in care and can also provide ongoing continuing professional development.
The course will include: Care certificate- this is a vocational component and will demonstrated through a portfolio of evidence. You will receive a vocational qualification when your employer and the college confirm that you have completed: care certificate; portfolio of evidence within the last 3 months and attempted the Level 2 functional skills exam.
Combinations of methods are used to assess vocational competence and knowledge. Methods include work-based assessments, questions and answers, discussions, written work, e-evidence, observations and portfolio building; multiple choice test; an observation of practice undertaken in the workplace and an evidence portfolio completed by the apprentice with an interview. On completion, you could progress onto an advanced apprenticeship within the care sector.
