This course is ideal for you if want a career as an Interior Designer, those working in related industries such as retail, fabrics, architects, show homes and those who would like to interior design their own home.
You will study: Detailed study of Inspirational sources; Learn to create a scheme for a period property; Health and safety regulations and planning legislation; Designer research; Explore materials and products in depth; Produce drawings + plans to industry standards and Complete a range of schemes.
The course is designed to develop individual approaches to designing schemes by discussion, assignments and self reflection. You will learn how to take a measured survey and plan the use of space. You will discover how design was used in period styles and how you might be inspired to develop these influences in modern designs. The course is mostly class based but students are expected to do research outside of the class sessions.
You will receive College certificate. There will be option to take OCNWMR Level 3 certificate at an additional cost. Accreditation is available and each module is assessed by the tutor and is moderated both internally and externally. This course can also be for personal development which is assessed by the tutor. You must complete a full year (3 terms) to complete each level of accreditation.
Once you have progressed through all 3 levels you may wish to continue to study further - Interior Design HE courses or become a self employed Interior Designer or work for an Interior Design company or gain employment in related industries such as soft furnishings, textiles and retail.
