Course description
Introduction
Pilates is a series of exercises designed to improve muscle control, flexibility, strength, breathing technique and posture. This course is suitable for beginners and those with experience.
By the end of the course you'll be able to:
Use exercises to improve your posture
Use exercises to improve alignment
Use diaphragm breathing techniques
Use exercises to improve core stability and strength
Name the main muscle groups and parts of the skeleton.
Assessment
This will be done via teacher feedback, individual learning plans, student and peer self-assessment, sharing of work in groups and partner work.
Next Steps
You can move onto the same course the following term to develop your skills further. You may wish to carry on learning and practicing for many years and apply it to everyday life. It's also possible to practice with a group locally during the summer break.
