Furniture Restoration & French PolishingFurniture Restoration & French Polishing [HDF5831G]: Overview
The course will cover a range of restoration techniques and will give you confidence to take on projects with guidance from an experienced tutor in this field.
What will we cover?
Bring along a portable item of furniture to the class and you will be taught how to restore and repair as well as French Polishing and Staining techniques. Where possible, learners will also discover the history of the furniture they have bought to the class.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
All abilities welcome.
No specific skills or prior knowledge required but learners will have to transport their individual projects to the class on a weekly basis
As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
For the first session, please bring with you equipment that you feel would be useful for working on your projects’ e.g. wire wool, stripping knives, rubber gloves, paint brushes as well as your item of furniture. If you need advice, please email the tutor at
It is essential that you wear closed toe shoes (not sandals or flip flops) and bring an apron or wear old clothes.
What can I do when I finish the course?
Learners may wish to enrol on other Upholstery classes to complete furniture restoration projects, or to develop further within the same class and meet like minded people and make friends
