Sewing & Garment Making - Beginners & Improvers

Sewing & Garment Making - Beginners & Improvers [HDF1375G]: Overview

This course guides beginners to start making garments and accessories using a sewing machine. You will be introduced to different techniques starting with simple projects and clothes and helping you to build your confidence as you go. Improvers will be encouraged to make more complex garments and to develop their sewing skills or pattern cutting.

What will we cover?

Beginners will be shown sewing techniques by making simple projects that show you how to place a pattern on fabric, how to join the fabric using a sewing machine and a variety of seam finishes. We will then build on these skills and learn how to insert a standard zip, sew a curve and create button holes, pattern match and construct waistbands. Improvers will be guided to choose a suitable pattern, take your own measurements and be able to fit the pattern and make adjustments to suit you. You will be able to finish off your garments and even accessorise them.
For those with sewing experience, this is an opportunity to challenge yourself and to make more complex garments whilst making sure your basic sewing skills are sound.

Your tutor will be on hand to provide one to one help.
