Watercolour Painting

Watercolour Painting [PEF2133G]: Overview

The course will establish a range of basic methods of Watercolour through the study and practice of methods and techniques used by both older and more contemporary watercolour artists.

What will we cover?

You will learn to develop the use of tone, colour, composition and perspective
Gain confidence in using Watercolour materials and be encouraged to take part in group discussions
The course will cover a range of techniques and styles from the traditional to the more modern.
There will be access to one to one support as well as group discussions on various topics.
The overall aim is to help you develop personal expression through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

For Beginners and Improvers
Those with some experience of Watercolour would be helpful although this is not essential. Useful for anyone needing a refresher

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

For the first session bring whatever watercolour materials you have or a set of watercolours, preferably pans rather than tubes. You will need watercolour brushes, palette and water containers and a pad of watercolour paper NOT surface and weight 300gsm or heavier. Size A3

If no materials, or not sure, please bring along a pad of A3 cartridge paper, soft grade of pencils (4B or 6B), soft rubber and charcoal. Materials will be discussed at the first session with advice on what to bring for the course.

What can I do when I finish the course?

To progress on to other courses in another media, to join other art groups, societies or to develop further within the same class, meet like minded people and make friends

Learners are expected to bring their own materials
Some less common or unusual materials may be brought in by the tutor
