Course description
This one-day course will give you the opportunity to learn basic traditional upholstery techniques while working on a drop in seat cushion to rejuvenate an old chair or create a soft pad for a new chair. The course is also a good follow up to the Intermediate Furniture Making short course at The Cass.
On the course, you will learn the proper use of tools, equipment and the correct fixings required when upholstering a chair cushion. You will also learn about material selection and uses and applications of certain upholstery fabrics.
By the end of the day, you will have learnt some useful and transferable basic traditional upholstery skills and have completed drop in seat to go in your chair of choice.

Suitability - Who should attend?
This course is suitable for beginners and aimed at those with furniture-making experience who would like to extend their knowledge with basic traditional upholstery techniques. The course would also suit those who have a chair to complete, a seat to refurbish or would just like to get a bite-sized introduction to upholstery.
