What will I learn?
Designed for anyone who wants to get a full, comprehensive introduction to a wide range of practical hairdressing skills, this Level 1 Diploma will give you a good, solid understanding of relevant techniques and lay the foundations for further study and an exciting future career. You’ll start with a wider look at the whole hair and beauty sector, focusing on how to present a professional image in the salon and how to follow health and safety regulations correctly. Throughout the course, you’ll develop your skills in shampooing, blow-drying and styling both women’s and men’s hair, as well as learning how to section hair effectively and apply temporary colour. With optional units to choose from as well, you can also learn how to plait and twist hair effectively. You’ll be learning in a real working environment and developing all the skills and abilities you’ll need for employment.

What do I need to know?
You don’t need to have any formal qualifications to enrol on this diploma, but we do ask that you are working at Entry Level 3 or above in both Literacy and Numeracy. Of course, you should also be passionate about working in this industry. We’ll invite you for a short initial assessment too, to check this course is suitable for you.
