What will I learn?
Do you want to know what the difference is between murder and manslaughter? Have you ever wondered why some sentences seem too short, or too long? Would you like to debate for a career? Take this Law A-Level with us, and you’ll discover answers to these questions, learn how to debate effectively and develop the skills needed to set you on the path to becoming a solicitor, barrister or judge! You’ll start with an introduction to the English legal system, exploring how laws are made, who makes them, and how they are the applied and interpreted. You’ll then dive into all aspects of the law, looking at the structure of criminal courts, the roles of juries, the jobs of judges, and how court cases actually work. During year two, you’ll get to focus on the different kinds of crime, including murder, manslaughter, assault, GBH, theft, robbery, burglary, criminal damage, blackmail and fraud. Law is a fascinating, diverse and fast-moving subject with new cases and developments nearly every day! On this A-Level course, you’ll cover a huge range of topics, develop a good understanding of legal practices and even get to consider what improvements could be made to the legal system. You’ll learn the skills needed to assess and argue a case, and set yourself up for a rewarding career in the industry.
