The course offers you a mix of theoretical study, practical handling of the Montessori materials and teaching practice, giving you insight into how the Montessori approach to working with children in the early years (0-6) is based on a deep understanding of child development underpinned by the theories of Maria Montessori and other educators, and borne out by observation.
The course is delivered by distance learning and workshop. A certificate is awarded on completion of the theoretical and practical components of the course. The diploma is awarded when you've completed a minimum of 240 hours of monitored and assessed teaching practice in a Montessori early years setting.A Montessori Partnership Certificate is awarded to you when you successfully complete all the requirements of the theoretical and practical components of the course, and pass both the written and the practical examinations. If you then go on to complete all the requirements of the assessed teaching practice you are awarded a Diploma.
The Montessori Partnership Montessori Diploma in Early Years Education has been credit rated with 149 points at level 8 (level 4 England) by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and appears on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF). Throughout the course the Montessori approach is related to the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (England), but if you're not based in England you investigate the requirements of your national early years curriculum and tailor your work accordingly.
