Higher Apprenticeship in Professional Services - Work-based programme
It is closely aligned with the Association of Taxation Technicians examinations, which means the apprentice will achieve a professional qualification as part of the apprenticeship.
With a mix of exam training and "on the job" skills, learners will finish the Higher Apprenticeship in Professional Services with both the technical knowledge and wider business skills to make a real difference to business performance. Training can be fully funded for 16-18 year olds and partially funded for 19-24 year olds.

This Apprenticeship has been designed by employers to reflect the range of technical, business and soft skills employers need. As well as the ATT qualification, it includes a blend of broader business skills and competence required in professional services, including project management and managing relationships.
Suitability - Who should attend?
This Higher Apprenticeship is suitable for those working in tax and is an exciting route into the tax profession.
To apply for an apprenticeship learners need to be aged 16 or older, and: a UK resident living in England for the past three years, an EU citizen, or have the right to work in the UK/EU.
There are no specific entry requirements but learners should be working in a full-time occupationally related role for more than 30 hours a week. Employers can set their own entry requirements if they wish but learners cannot be a graduate or in full-time education.
Other requirements include:
- A contract to be signed by the apprentice, employer and Tolley to confirm everyone is aware of their obligations;
- An initial induction at the workplace with the apprentice and their supervisor;
- An Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) Paper, either Paper 2.09 - United Kingdom option or Paper 2.10 – United States option.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
On completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will receive:
- the ATT (Association of Tax Technicians) qualification
- a qualification in Business Skills and Competence
They will also have up to 2 years of work experience in the professional services sector.
This will open up a number of opportunities for career progression, including studying for the CTA qualification to become a Chartered Tax Advisor.
The training included in this apprenticeship can be fully funded for 16-17 year olds and partly funded for 19-24 years olds.
