Imaging Orthopaedic and Spinal Disease
This one-day course uses a blend of lectures and small group case-based problem solving to put theory into practice in cases of orthopaedic and spinal disorders.
Morning lectures will cover an introduction to imaging of the musculoskeletal system and the spine and the principles of radiological interpretation, utilising standard and nonstandard radiographic projections. Participants will then work in pairs using imaging software to work through cases. In the afternoon, the topics of musculoskeletal ultrasound and advanced imaging in orthopaedic and spinal disease will be covered in lectures and small group case-based discussion.
Suitability - Who should attend?
This workshop is suitable for vets in first opinion practice or those studying for an RCVS CertAVP.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
- Recognise the diagnostic features of common disorders of the spine and musculoskeletal system as seen on radiography, computed tomography and MRI.
- Recognise common artefacts in orthopaedic and spinal imaging and differentiate these from significant abnormalities, interpreting and diagnosing a range of conditions in real cases.
