Practical Equine Dentistry (Based at Twemlows)
The day starts with a series of short lectures on dental examination, recording findings using dental charts, techniques for routine floating with motorised equipment and an overview of equipment required. The rest of the morning and afternoon will be spent in small groups focusing on developing those practical skills. Every participant will have the opportunity to perform dental treatments on more than one real case under the close supervision of skilled course tutors.
The workshop is suitable for those studying for a CertAVP in Equine Dentistry and specifically for the practical dental assessment in the C-E.12 module. participants should bring their own protective equipment and an appropriate light source and dental kit where possible.

The workshop is suitable for those studying for an RCVS CertAVP in equine dentistry.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
- Refresh knowledge of the normal equine dental anatomy and common dental pathology
- Demonstrate a thorough, logical and systematic approach to oral examination and diagnosis in equine dentistry cases, including the use of dental charts for recording
- Develop a good floating technique, including safe use of motorised equipment, for the management of routine dental cases.
