Adult Care Intermediate Apprenticeship:

Course Introduction

This apprenticeship is ideal for care assistants in the care or health sector working in residential, nursing, learning and physical disability establishments. You'll develop the skills you need for success on this rewarding career path.

Social care is about helping people with a particular need, such as the disabled, the elderly or people with learning disabilities. This care usually takes place in the home, in care homes or out in the community, and can include anything from helping people get dressed to transporting them to and from a residential home or taking them shopping. Examples of subject areas include: Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Health and Social Care Level 2 NVQ in Health and Social Care Level 1 maths Level 1 English The qualification is achieved by gaining practical experience in the workplace and gathering evidence into an online portfolio to demonstrate competence. Necessary theory, underpinning knowledge and support will be given in the work place with students being required to attend College workshop sessions to pass written and functional skills tests.

Following the completion of your level 2 apprenticeship you will be able to progress to the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care. This course opens up a host of career opportunities.

Suitability - Who should attend?

Employment at a suitable level - most employers ask for GCSEs in English and maths, but may have additional specific requirements.
