What will I learn?
This is a technical level qualification, ideal if you are seeking a career as an employed or self-employed theatrical media make-up artist, providing hair and make-up services in the media, theatre, performing arts, fashion and photographic industries. Set the scene with Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical and Make-up Artistry. If you have an artistic streak and dream of working in the fashion, photography, theatre, TV or cosmetics industry then this course will develop the skills you need to succeed.
The qualification you will earn is based on hairdressing and beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK's lead beauty therapy professional association (The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology).
Specific subjects include: Airbrush make-up - provide airbrush make-up services to clients and learn how to maintain the equipment accurately; False lash application - provide false eyelash services using strip and flare lashes; Fashion and photographic make-up - provide photographic make-up services to clients/models, treating the required areas of the face and body; Media make-up - develop a variety of designs and techniques including the application of small prosthetic pieces and bald caps; Cosmetic make-up science - develop an understanding relating to the chemistry of products used in the make-up industry through theoretical research and Camouflage make-up - provide skin camouflage services to client/models, treating the required areas of the face and body.
Alongside your course you will study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence. Upon completion of this course you will be able to progress to higher levels of study, or start work in a number of careers such as professional make-up artistry, self-employment and beauty and/or hair salons. In addition, you will be eligible to become a member of the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC). You can also earn while you learn with our apprenticeship opportunities.

What do I need to know?
Students should have completed Level 2 Technical Certificate in Hair and Media Make-Up, or equivalent. Students with GCSE English and maths at grade C/4 or above will work towards the extended diploma. They will also be invited to a Course Introduction Meeting.
