IT is an increasingly important area, and whatever role you take you’ll be part of a fast-moving, ever-changing sector. This apprenticeship covers a wide range of general computing and IT skills that can be applied in many job roles and industries. It will help you develop the skills you need for your job – whether for teaching someone in finance to process account details more efficiently or helping stock controllers keep track of merchandise.
You’ll learn how to operate computers and databases, as well as how to use and maintain IT systems and networks. Examples of subject areas include: Improving productivity using IT Understanding the potential of IT Developing personal and team effectiveness using IT Set up an IT system Optimise IT system performance The qualification is achieved by gaining practical experience at work. You will also be required to achieve a Level 1 award in English, maths and ICT and complete a workbook relating to employment rights and responsibilities.
Following the successful completion of your course you can progress to anadvanced apprenticeship in IT or you can join the industry. IT offers a broad range of careers such as office support or administrator, personal assistant, website technician or designer. This course opens up a host of career opportunities.

Employment at a suitable level - most employers ask for GCSEs in English and maths, but may have additional specific requirements.
