What will I learn?
Health and Social Care is a rewarding profession which provides you with the opportunity to care for others and make a positive difference to people’s lives. This academic course is a recognised entry qualification into university and has been designed specifically for those who have an interest in nursing or heathcare.
During your course you will study a wide range of subjects: Developing effective communication within health and social care - identify sources of information and support or services to enable more effective communication; Sociological and psychological perspectives - study the application of sociological and psychological approaches to health and social care, and explore social inequalities, demographic change, and patterns and trends in social groups; Fundamentals of anatomy and physiology - understand anatomy and physiology in relation to all forms of health and social care methods and procedures; Research methodology for health and social care - explore the methodologies of contemporary research and investigate the implications for health and social care practice and services and Supporting individuals care needs - establish the principles and practicalities that underpin meeting individuals’ care and support needs, which are the foundation of all the care disciplines.
Alongside your course you will study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence. After this course, you can progress onto university or further training and your career prospects will include nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and teaching to name a few.

What do I need to know?
You should have 4 GCSEs (A*-C/9-4), including English language or maths, or Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. You will need to complete a DBS check.
