This course is designed for individuals who are interested in training to be Psychodynamic Counsellors or Psychodynamic Psychotherapists. Candidates will be able to practice their counselling skills within a psychodynamic framework. This course also provides an opportunity to develop appropriate study skills such as how to write papers linking theory to practice, how to process and record sessions and how to use supervision.
Applicants must have successfully completed a foundation level Counselling Skills and Theory course that is equivalent to the one offered at WPF Therapy. Experience of working face to face in a counselling capacity, either voluntary or paid, is advantageous.
This course takes place over 7 months (January to July) and includes weekly attendance plus 3 weekend modules. Weekly attendance is on Thursday mornings, 9.30am - 2.00pm.
Please note all applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English. These are the qualifications in English regarded by WPF Therapy as an acceptable minimum level of competence:
British Council IELTS at 6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in any band (see /> GCSE grade C
Cambridge Proficiency Certificate grade C
Cambridge Advanced Certificate grade C (with no less than 'weak' in any band)
WPF Therapy may require proof prior to the offer of a place.
