Course description
Garden Design – An Introduction
This 10 week course aims to provide participants with an introductory understanding of the procedures, processes and principles of garden design and how these are applied in practice via a hypothetical garden site.
Suitability - Who should attend?
Participants are required to bring their own drawing materials i.e. Pencils, pens, scale ruler, flexi-curve, set-squares and a size A2 drawing portfolio.
Advice will be given on drawing materials and equipment throughout the course. Drawing paper will be supplied.

Outcome / Qualification etc.
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Develop a client brief
- Review a site survey and site analysis of a project site
- Compile a mood board/concept board for proposed design ideas
- Prepare site functional bubble diagrams based on the clients brief
- Development of shape and form as patterns
- Development of a Design Layout Plan
- Presentation of final design proposals in 2-D formats
Upon successful completion of the Garden Design – An Introduction, participants are able to build on their skills by moving on to the Garden Design - Intermediate course
