Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport and Fitness with Girls Football Academy
The Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport and Fitness (with Girls Football Academy) is intended for post-16 female learners looking to study while being part of an affiliated football academy.
This two-year, full-time qualification has been developed in consultation with employers and professional bodies so that it is appropriate and consistent with current industry practice and allows learners to enter direct employment to the health and fitness sector. Higher-education institutions have also been consulted to ensure that qualification allows appropriate progression for those aspiring to go on to higher-level study.

The mandatory content gives students a broad introduction to working in the sport and fitness industry. This includes preparation for working in a self-employed capacity. Learners gain knowledge of the legal requirements for self-employment as well as learning how to build their business.
The content also forms a basis for progression to further study. Part of the mandatory content allows learners to develop technical skills in working with clients in a gym environment, carrying out gym inductions and leading small-group-based exercise. All these elements are required to work as a gym instructor in the health and fitness industry.
