OHSAS 18000 is the standard that stipulates the elements of an OH&S management system with the objective of helping to improve a company's safety performance. OHSAS 18001 stipulates the requirements for the management system with the objective of helping a company implement a policy and objectives.

OHSAS 18001 is the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series for safety management systems. It is a British standard and is applied internationally. Lead auditors, internal auditors and quality supervisors provide evaluations and recommendations for the improvement of the general work conditions, ensuring that all professional activities take place in a healthy and safe environment. It applies to all types and sizes of businesses and accommodates diverse geographical, cultural and social conditions.

The elements of OHSAS 18001 includes OH&S management system, OH&S policy, planning, implementation, checking and corrective action and management review.
