Strengthen your knowledge and understanding of international arbitration through this highly popular course.
Ciarb’s popular Module 1 course focuses on the legal principles, processes, practice and procedure in international arbitration. By taking this course, you will acquire the knowledge needed to:
- Evaluate issues in proceedings.
- Apply legislation based on the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Model Law, regional Arbitration law, and UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.

Suitability - Who should attend?
There are no entry requirements for this course. Although we recommend that if you have no previous experience in international arbitration you take the Introduction course and assessment first.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
On successful completion of the Module 1 assessment (available separately), you will be able to:
- Understand international arbitration as a party, party representative or witness.
- Carry out the tasks required in preparing for and progressing an international arbitration.
- Assist in an international arbitration, communicating effectively with the parties, applying the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules and adopting appropriate procedures.
- Apply to become a Member of Ciarb (MCIArb) – ideal if you are keen to develop your ADR career and professional network.
- Progress on to the Module 2: Law of Obligations course.
Course delivery details
Virtual Module 1: Law Practice and Procedure of International Arbitration comprises a combination of private study and six virtual tutorials. The course is delivered virtually over a three-month period.
