CMI Level 5 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Management and Leadership Distance Learning CourseThe CMI (Chartered Management Institute) Level 5 range of qualifications is geared towards helping middle managers develop their core leadership and management skills and practices. The focus is on providing a solid foundation for progression in their leadership development and a move to a more senior management position.

There are four CMI qualifications at Level 5: the Award, Certificate, Diploma and Extended Diploma Management and Leadership. This distance learning course allows candidates to choose the most suitable route for them, opting for the units that are most relevant to their workplace and role.
The compulsory units explore the following topics:

  • Personal development
  • Management resources
  • Meeting customer and quality requirements
  • Information management
  • Performance management

Candidates completing the more extensive qualifications can then add to the above with a range of optional units focusing on more specific areas, including marketing, risk management, project management and recruitment.

Suitability - Who should attend?

The CMI Level 5 Qualifications are designed for practising or aspiring middle managers looking to enhance their skills and/or gain formal recognition of their management abilities.

Assessment & Qualification

Assessment is normally via practical work-based assignments.

Successful candidates will be awarded the CMI Level 5 Award, Certificate, Diploma or Extended Diploma in Management and Leadership, depending on how many credits they achieve.

Training Course Content

Students must complete any of the units below to make up at least 6 credits to gain the Award, 13 credits for the Certificate and 38 credits for the Diploma.
To gain the Extended Diploma, all of the units listed in Group A need to be completed along with 7 credits from Group B and a minimum of 19 credits from Group C.

  • Organisational Corporate Social Responsibility (7 credits)
