Course description
This course is for those who wish to develop the skills to express themselves through the medium of oil painting. Whether you are new to oil painting or have some experience, this course will build your skills and confidence in the subject. We will throw light on the materials and processes involved, and have you working from still life right from the beginning. Particular emphasis will be given to painting, without the use of drawing or preparatory line. You will work on self-directed projects, whilst guided through the process of interpreting your initial sketches and concepts, as well as organising them into a plan. We will also demonstrate various painting techniques and you'll be encouraged to practise from home between sessions if possible. You will leave the course with a body of work and you will have more awareness of the diverse concepts and production of the generic process of painting. Many people move on to other visual arts courses, at intermediate or advanced levels.
