Course description
The IPAF MEWPs for Managers course is essential for all managers and supervisors who need to safely manage work at height and use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms.
This online e-learning course can aid compliance with the requirement for manager and supervisor training and has been recognised as an important qualification for managers at all levels by the UK HSE. This interactive online course will help you to answer the following questions and prepare you to manage MEWPs on-site.
- Do you know what your legal obligations are?
- Have you selected the right machine for the job at hand?
- Who is operating MEWPs on your site and have they been trained and familiarised?
- Have you considered the potential hazards and taken preventive measures?
The course covers what managers need to know about using MEWPs on-site, from planning and risk assessment to selecting the right equipment. Includes topics such as Health & Safety regulations, accident prevention and control, personal protective equipment, and pre-use checks and maintenance. It covers the whole process of MEWP management, from selecting the right machine, and making sure operators are properly trained, through to securing the MEWPs and organizing safe delivery and collection of the plant to and from work sites.

Suitability - Who should attend?
The course is targeted at project managers, foremen and supervisors. Anyone who is responsible for planning and overseeing the use of MEWPs on their job site.
This course is only for those individuals who have an in-date PAL Card due for RENEWAL for IPAF MEWP Operator training and who have sufficient experience. The advantage to candidates includes a shorter training time. This course is available at all of our training centres.
REQUIREMENTS
You will need access to either a computer with webcam or a tablet device with a camera to be able to complete the course. The camera is used by the facial recognition software.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
Upon successful completion of this online course, candidates will receive an IPAF certificate. Those who hold a valid Powered Access Licence for operating equipment can have the MEWPs for Managers (MM) category added to their PAL Card.

The eLearning version of the IPAF MEWPs for Managers course uses a new generation of learning tools providing immersive 360-degree videos, enhanced interactive graphics and virtual scenarios. Candidates have complete flexibility to undertake and pass the online sections at a time and place of their choosing. It uses sophisticated facial recognition across the online training and evaluation session to ensure the candidate’s identity and to prevent any attempt to obtain the qualification through fraudulent means.
IPAF MEWP OPERATOR RENEWAL TRAINING COURSE NOW AVAILABLE USING VIRTUAL REALITY MEWP SIMULATOR
This course provides recertification training for experienced IPAF MEWP Operators through the use of Virtual Reality (VR) simulations to refresh their knowledge in a range of situations and environments.
This RENEWAL training course will instruct and refresh an operator to prepare and safely operate various types of MEWPs, also referred to as cherry pickers, aerial lifts, or scissor lifts. Categories include Mobile Vertical (3a) and Mobile Boom (3b).
