Course description
This course is designed for anyone wanting to explore the art of directing, from complete beginners to students considering career possibilities and those involved in amateur dramatic societies wanting to develop their skills. Each day we will explore different directorial strategies using a range of texts, both classic and contemporary. There will be ample opportunities for practical work and all participants will get the chance to direct, experimenting with a range of styles and rehearsal techniques, in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
By the end of this course you should have gained a greater understanding of the role of the theatre director and the way in which established texts can be re-interpreted in creative and imaginative ways. You will also have been given an opportunity to develop your skills both as a leader and as part of a creative team.
