French Beginners Level 2

This course is suitable for those who have already studied French for one term. The course is based on a communicative approach and aims to develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in the foreign language. It aims to enable students to understand and use French effectively for purposes of practical communication, to develop some understanding of grammar and to offer insights into the culture of French speaking countries. By the end of the course you will have been given the opportunity to: Request information on services in a bank or tourist office, Write a simple letter, describe houses and flats, Practise ordering food and drink at a café or a restaurant, Practise apologising and complaining, Tell the time, Talk about travel and practise buying tickets, Practise making bookings in a hotel. You will also have learnt some basic French grammar, in particular: regular verbs in the present tense: -ir verbs, Some irregular verbs: vouloir, pouvoir, aller, faire, devoir, Comparatives and superlatives, Prepositions: à and de, Direct object pronouns, The immediate future.
