Suitability - Who should attend?

This course has the potential to be effectively taught to student cohorts.

Students must be over 16 years of age.

You'll need to complete 350 hours of work experience, either on a voluntary or paid basis, in a childcare setting serving children aged 0-5 in mainland England. During this work placement, it's essential to have a qualified staff member who can provide supervision and assist in preparing and endorsing the occupational evidence of practical experience forms.

Learners wishing to count in the staff-to-child ratio within a childcare setting should note that in addition to having a relevant Early Years Educator course, there is also a requirement to hold GCSE English and Maths A*-C. Please note, however, that the requirement for Level 3 will be broadened to Level 2 qualifications, including Functional Skills.

It is not a requirement to have the relevant English and Maths qualifications to enrol onto the course, or to complete it.  However, the qualifications will be necessary for a worker to be counted in the staff to child ratios within a childcare setting. Therefore it would be advisable to complete the required courses to enable you to progress. NCC are able to provide the courses for you to purchase.
