Course description
This NCFE CACHE Level 4 Certificate for the Advanced Practitioner in Schools and Colleges qualification is the perfect course for anyone currently working in a teaching assistant or support role in a school or college looking to take the next step in their career. With this nationally recognised level 4 qualification, you will be able to progress to become a higher-level teaching assistant/advanced practitioner. Your studies will embrace the wealth of experience, proven knowledge, and skills you have already gained in a teaching and learning environment and develop them futher. It will challenge youin both your daily practice and theoretical understanding. This course is the next step of learning for an established teaching assistant and it is the only level 4 qualification from NCFE CACHE. During your studies, you will build on your skills in leadership, mentoring, coaching, and reflection. Once you have successfully completed your course, you will become a qualified higher level teaching assistant or advanced practitioner. This qualification is supported by the following organisations:

- The roles and responsibilities of the Advanced Practitioner
- The statutory educational frameworks
- The influence of the environment on learning in schools and colleges
- Monitoring and assessment in the school or college environment
Unit 2 Understand how to support children and young people to improve their mental health and wellbeing (M/616/5412)
- Mental health and wellbeing in children and young people
- The current legislation in relation to children and young people’s mental health
- How to support mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in schools and colleges
Unit 3 Working with others to support individuals with additional needs and disability in a school or college (M/616/5409)
- Current frameworks for inclusive practice
- Provision related to children, young people and/or adults’ additional needs
- The role and responsibilities of the special educational needs coordinator (SENCo)
- Factors which affect families who are caring for children, young people and/or adults with special educational needs or disabilities
- Policies and procedures to support children, young people and/or adults with special educational needs or disabilities
Unit 4 Working with families and other professionals in a school or college setting (H/616/5407)
- Requirements for partnership working in schools or colleges
