Assessor Courses - RQF / NVQ Assessor Qualifications
Assessor courses provide the necessary qualifications needed to effectively plan, deliver and evaluate vocational training programmes. Assessors may become qualified within a variety of industries.
The Assessor Profession
To begin working in an assessor role, you need the qualification, work experience and dedication to improve the learning environment and skills of vocational trainees. By guiding and evaluating trainees in different industry sectors, assessors accredited through the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) are able to gain a comprehensive picture of the education and training industry in the UK. Assessor courses cover the wide range of skills necessary to succeed in this role.
Assessors specialise in evaluating vocational training across different industry areas and prepare new generations of skilled professionals. As outlined in the RQF and the NVQ (national vocational qualification) standard, the mission of professionally accredited assessors is to harness the long-term potential of learners and to respond to the job market's demands.
What type of training is required to become an assessor?
Professionals working as assessors contribute to improving learning techniques, efficiency at work, competencies in the workplace and the responsible management of resources. Often, professionals working in the broader education areas take assessor courses to get their accreditation as RQF assessors and adapt their training approaches to the demands of a larger and more diverse pool of trainees. The minimum qualification requirements for working as an assessor are the Level 3 in assessing workplace competencies and the Level 3 in assessing vocational awards.
How does the RQF assessor award differ from the previous NVQ award?
The A1 Assessor course and training scheme and the D32/33 award are still recognised for existing assessors. Depending on the industry area they represent, assessors may need to update their professional qualification with units from the new RQF scheme. Professionals who wish to start a career in Assessing Vocational training programmes will have to complete their training along the new RQF requirements at either Certificate or the Award level. The complete training series for receiving the official accreditation to work as RQF assessor includes:
- Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
- Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment
- Level 3 Awardin Assessing Vocationally-Related Achievement
- Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
