Fire can destroy lives, close businesses and put a tremendous strain on the health and welfare of the workplace. The Highfield Level 2 Award in Principles of Fire Safety course is aimed at anyone involved in the management of fire safety in any workplace. This includes managers, supervisors, team leaders, fire wardens (marshals) and staff working in any area where there is a potential risk of fire.

The Highfield Level 2 Award in Principles of Fire Safety course consists of two main areas of learning:

Understand the hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace

Understand how fire risk is controlled in the environment

Successful completion of this qualification means learners are qualified to undertake further training such as the Highfield Level 2 Award in the Health and Safety within the Workplace (RQF) or the Highfield Level 3 Award Health and Safety within the Workplace (RQF)

All trainers who provide this course have appropriate first aid and training qualifications, allowing them to explain the course content clearly and answer candidates’ questions knowledgably.

This training course is fully interactive and specifically designed to cater for differing learning styles which means candidates are constantly fully engaged with the course content.

On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

Identify common causes of fires in the workplace

Identify hazards during and after a fire and describe how a fire can spread

Outline steps within a fire risk assessment

Describe ways to reduce the risk of fire

Identify types and uses of different fire-fighting equipment

Identify the role of fire wardens in their workplace
