The Highfield Level 3 Award in Health and Safety within the Workplace course meets the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements for training. This qualification has been specifically designed for managers, supervisors and team leaders to gain an essential understanding of health and safety in the workplace and their exact roles and duties regarding its management.

On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:
Describe the legal framework relating to health and safety at work.
Understand the main causes of injuries and ill health at work and explain the costs associated with these injuries.
Summarise the typical elements of a safety management system and outline the benefits of using one.
Describe a variety of different risk assessments and state where specific risk assessments may be needed.
Explain how risks from different hazards may be affected by occupational, environmental, human and organisational factors.
Identify suitable risk control measures using the principles of the hierarchy of control.
Describe the actions that need to be taken following an incident and understand simple accident investigation techniques and how they reveal immediate and root causes.

Whole group discussion
Assessment of the learning outcomes is completed by a two-hour multiple-choice examination which is given at the end of the course.
